Soup Jars for Christmas
Many hands working together accomplish so much. Chatham Alliance was recently blessed with the opportunity to partner with Gary S. and Thrivent Action Teams to make Christmas gifts for our community.
Thrivent Action Teams provided a cash grant. CORA Food Pantry provided red beans and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated lentils. The family of Mrs. Shirley Lindley donated some of her canning jars. These were some of the same jars that she and her daughter used to can foods grown on their property. After sharing our project plans, Ms. Joan from First United Methodist Church, Siler City, a former grower and canner, donated jars as well. She gathered jars that community members brought to her for her own projects over the years and gave not one but two full boxes to CA. When you combine all of the gifts from people in the community who truly care for one another with amazing volunteers, what you get is 105 beautiful, dry soup jars that will feed approximately 320 people this holiday season. We couldn't have been more thankful to be able to share some love and joy with one another and our community. Merry Christmas Chatham County!
